- Blue Pottery is unique because it is made from a quartz-based body instead of clay. The material is prepared by mixing quartz powder, glass powder, Multani Mitti (Fuller's Earth), gum and borax, giving it a smooth, lightweight and glossy finish.
Multan is one of Pakistan's major centres of Blue Pottery. Influenced by Persian art, it is known for its blue and turquoise colours, floral and geometric designs, and Islamic motifs. Multan's artisans create decorative tiles, vases, bowls and plates using traditional hand-painting and glazing techniques, making the craft an important part of the city's cultural heritage.
